EDELWEISS

EDELWEISS

EDELWEISS- Gnaphalium leontopodium

album names  of Edelweiss:

White Jewel; Swiss Alpine Rose; Immortelle of the Alpine; Snowflower; and Mountain Rose;

Edelweiss is the National Flower Of Switzerland and The Symbol of Switzerland

Edelweiss is considered to be the token of undying affection. Love's willingness to sacrifice all for the object of its affection. This flower is found in Switzerland, growing above frightful precipices. or from the crevices of rocks where even a goat could scarcely find foot hold. It is the Switzer's love token and many a young mountaineer has risked his life to secure a flower, to give to the girl he loved.

 1 Hast seen the flower which tourists prize,
The Alpine Rose- the Edelweiss?
It blooms amid perpetual snows,
Its nooks no mountain hunter knows
Shy, in its sweet mysterious grace,
It loves to hide its chaste white face,
And brave the tourist who would dare
The strange white Mountain Rose to wear.
