GIBRALTAR CANDYTUFT 

IBERIS GIBRALTARICA

IBERIS- from Iberia, an ancient name for Spain,- and derived in turn from the river Iberus. A genus of about twenty species. Native of the south of Spain and Morocco.The seeds were brought three hundred years ago from the Island of Crete, at that time better known as Candia; consequently the plant became known as Candy Mustard, afterwards improved into Candytuft.
