SNOW DRIFT SUNDAE

 SNOW DRIFT SUNDAE

SNOW DRIFT SUNDAE- Clematis

 Put a No 10 cone of vanilla ice cream in a sundae cup, and pour over it a ladle of the following dressing- "(snow drift)," and top with a white cherry.

To one quart of mallo creme add
1 quart of vanilla syrup
1 quart of simple syrup
12 ounce of lemon extract and mix thoroughly.

Songs of the Nation

The clematis clings, gleaming snow-drift of weed.
The wild-cherries ripen; the sumac-tree turns;
 Like emeralds in air swing the maidenhair ferns.
The alder is hidden by clusters of vine,
The birch waxes pale at the march of the pine,
The willow the wrongs of the forest, yet grieves,
And the elm clambers straight to its branches and leaves.

Snow drift clematis

Among the hybrids a few of the most beautiful forms, were selected and placed without specific names, with a florist for introduction. Some of my earlier clematis introductions had been given names, more or less suggestive of their peculiarities of flower, including "Ostrich Plume" and "Snow Drift"
Another- "Waverley," etc.
